The Voice of Intuition

The Voice of Intuition Women are said to have it. Intuition that is. While genetic maternal instincts may in fact hone this skill sharper than men, there is no question that we all have it. Here is what intuition or "intuitive thought" almost always is. Right. What happens most times is that in that microscopic gap between correct thought and the intrusion of engrained psychological excuses, we too often lose the benefit of our insight. Driving downtown I saw this in brilliant Technicolor. While stopped at a traffic light I was watching the people walking down the street across from my lane. Two very well dressed young businessmen in their mid to late 20's were walking along talking when they passed a homeless man on sitting on the sidewalk. The cold drizzle of rain no doubt dampening him even further. He sat with his head down and a baseball cap in his hand, oblivious it seemed to the great wealth and prosperity that surrounded him. The two young men walked past him, likely 3-4 steps, when one man stopped, turned around, reached in his pocket and returned with some change which he dropped into the hat. The homeless man on the sidewalk, lifted his eyes up and I could see his lips mouth a solemn "thank you". It was obvious that this young man was able to fight off the voice of "why not" and was able to retrace just those few steps to do what was right. I am not writing this to extol the virtues of giving to those who are homeless although I think from our position at this moment, sharing with others can do nothing but good. I am certain the good he felt about himself lasted a good deal longer than those few coins ever would. The point I wanted to make is that intuitive thought is one of the jewels of the human experience. It is our guidepost to what is right and the light that strips away the darkness of the unknown. Here is how you can recognize intuitive thought. They are flashes of genius normally very closely connected to a positive emotion. They are thoughts of "this business idea", "that opportunity", "this potential relationship", or a few coins parted with in favour of an unfortunate person who sits without a home on the streets of the wealthiest city in the nation. We hear a great many voices over the course of a normal day. It is estimated that the average person has some 60,000 thoughts a day. Know this. That interspersed among all that chatter are those flashes of genius that have the potential to one day improve our day and the next to transform our lives. Pay attention to them and give life to those. They are the voices of intuition. Have an excellent day.

Be well,
