The thief of the calendar

"The thief of the calendar". There are so many different parts of life that we will pass through. From infancy through our toddler years into childhood, teenage angst and our adult years all bring their own unique qualities and challenges. I remember like it was yesterday that I was the kid. For the longest time I was referred to as just that. The kid. I was 16 when I began working full time. 18 when I owned my first business. 21 when I landed a job in sales with a fortune 500 company. And so it went. Somewhere between those days and today it shifted. I was an old man getting into radio at 28. Beyond most in years when I started a career in personal development and I didn't fit the mold when my daughter came into this world just 2 years ago. Here is what I have come to know. Age has little to do with the day unless you allow the cloud of perception to steal away experience. In a session yesterday a woman commented that she was "46" and felt at the end of the line to be getting into her field. The number has nothing to do with it. The perspective has everything. Here is what I know. She has 46 years experience to invest into the next great idea and endeavor. Here is what she also has. Likely close to 50 more years to ply her trade of life while on this journey. That's where the focus must lie. On what lies ahead not what lies behind. Here is a question. "Is a day any more valuable at age 46 than it is at 86"? I expect we get the same 24 hours in a day no matter when they come along in life. Harland Sanders was 65 when he struck out with 11 herbs and spices to start up this little venture called Kentucky Fried Chicken. Here's what all this means. Never allow the world to steal away your next dream because of a number. One enemy to be wary of is the thief of the calendar. Have an excellent day.
